Scripter

After completing this chapter, you will be able to:
ā€¢ Use the Animator window
ā€¢ Use the Scripter window
ā€¢ Enable scripts

introduction
In the previous chapter, you learned about saving viewpoints, creating viewpoint animation, and creating cross-sections of the model. In this chapter, you will learn to create object animation and adding scripts to the animation by using the options available in the Animator and Scripter windows. These two windows comprise several options that are used for creating object animation. The options in these windows are discussed in detail in this chapter.

The animator window
In Navisworks, the Animator window is provided to create object animation by capturing every movement of the given object. The options available in the Animator window allow you to create several types of animations. To invoke the Animator window, choose the Animator tool from the Tools panel of the Home tab; the Animator window will be displayed in the Scene View, as shown in Figure 6-1. There are three areas in this window: Animator toolbar, Animator tree view, and Animator timeline View. These areas are discussed next.

Animator Toolbar
The Animator toolbar is available at the top in the Animator window. It contains buttons and options used while creating object animation, as shown in Figure 6-2. These buttons are discussed next.

Translate animation set
The Translate animation set button is used to put the animator in translation mode. On choosing this button, a Move gizmo will be displayed in the Scene View and the Translate palette will be displayed at the bottom in the Animator window. Using the Move gizmo, you can make the required translational changes in the selected object. You can also specify the values of the X, Y, and Z coordinates in the respective edit boxes in the Translate palette to change the position of the selected objects.

Rotate animation set
The Rotate animation set button is used to make the rotational changes in the selected objects. On choosing this button, a Rotate gizmo will be displayed in the Scene View and the Rotate palette will be displayed at the bottom in the Animator window. Using the Rotate gizmo, you can rotate the selected object. Alternatively, specify values for the degree of rotation ab...
