Para além do interesse jornalístico e literário, esse livro tem a força de documento sobre a visão de um brasileiro em Paris no final do século XIX,
em que diversos aspectos da vida cotidiana, inclusive as epidemias de gripe e de cólera, não passaram despercebidas.
