Due to demographic, social, technical and political developments, there are currently diverse challenges in the field of mobility that create space for new mobility concepts. A central element of the discussion is non-station-based car sharing, which allows so-called "one-way trips" and was implemented for the first time in 2009. Since then, more station-independent car sharing offers have been launched in cities - particularly in Europe and North America - and market forecasts assume that a positive development can be expected within the next few years. Existing providers can open up additional locations within the cities due to the natural user limitation in order to ensure long-term growth. At the same time, first examples show that there were also decisions for cities that turned out to be wrong afterwards. This is where the present dissertation comes in, looking at the challenges and factors influencing market entry into a city from a supplier's perspective in the context of a detailed case study, based on expert interviews and a broad secondary analysis. The results are then transferred to a dependency model of non-station-based car sharing and a market selection process is developed for operational practice.
