Daily Routines

Week 1 Teacher Notes

Monday: What Doesn’t Belong?

In this routine students have to discuss what 3 of the following numbers, letters, shapes and images belong. They should be able to talk about the difference between numbers and letters. You could extend the discussion by asking students to name more letters and more numbers. The students should be able to talk about why the giraffe does not belong.

Tuesday: Alike and Different

Students should be able to discuss how the shapes are alike with sides that are closed how they have points (vertices) and how the sides are straight. We want to focus on the attributes of the shapes.

Wednesday: Number of the Day

This is an opportunity for students to work with numbers and their representations. They draw them and also put them on the 10 frame. They circle it on the number path.

Thursday: Number Talk

This is an opportunity for students to work with composing and decomposing numbers.

Friday: What’s the Story?

You want students to act this out and then discuss the pictures.
