The idea for producing How to Create the Inclusive Classroom arose from the many presentations I have made in LEAs and at national conferences in recent years. Educational professionals working in inclusive settings are constantly seeking practical resources, which will act as a good starting point in enabling them to remove barriers to learning and participation for a diversity of pupils.
This book should fill the gap that is currently apparent in terms of such practical resources. It clarifies expectations about applying inclusive learning principles and approaches, and supports the government's SEN Strategy and Inclusion Development Programme.
