Simulations, Games and Role Play in University Education
About This Book
Simulation, games and role play have been in use in Higher Education as teaching andresearch tools and methods, for generations. It is, however, less easy to identifyplaces where they are fully accepted as integral to academic teaching routines. The chapters in this book contribute to exploring both ways all three forms arecurrently being used, and factors influencing their slow uptake. The book aims to inspire educators to engage inplay-based learning activities to the benefit of the learning outcomes of theirstudents. It is the editors' belief that when play-based learning activitieswork well â whether in the form of games, simulations or role plays â they aresecond to none in engaging students in their learning process. Pedagogyand practice are equally important for improving students' learning outcomes. The activities described and commended in this anthology subscribe to this aimin a most fruitful way.
