Getting Around Your iPad

The iPad runs an operating system called iPadOS.
iPads have a touch screen user interface allowing you to interact with the apps on the screen using touch gestures.
We’ll take a look at the different parts of the user interface, such as the control center, notifications and lock screen.
Lets begin by having a look at some of the navigation features of iPad. Take a look at the video resources

Home Screen

The home screen is a launch pad where you’ll find icons for all your apps. With iPadOS, the home screen has a few improvements over previous versions. The app icons are now smaller giving more space for apps.
In horizontal mode, you now have the ability to pin widgets to the left hand side of your screen. This panel is called ‘today view’.

Widgets

Widgets give you quick access to actions in your favourite apps, as well as information from other apps such as the weather, maps & traffic, calendar appointments and so on. Hold your iPad in horizontal mode, you’ll see the ‘today’ view on the left hand side of the screen. If you don’t see it, swipe right until the panel shows up.
To edit and add widgets, scroll down the ‘today view’ list, tap the edit button at the bottom.
Tap the red minus icon next to a widget you want to remove.
Tap the green plus icon next to the widgets you want to add.
Tap ‘done’ when you’re finished.

Shortcuts

A shortcut is a quick way to execute tasks with your apps using one or more actions. An action is a single function within an app you can use in your shortcut such as send email to a group or open a web page. Each shortcut is made up of a series of actions. These shortcuts can either be triggered manually or you can be triggered by an event or at a particular time. This is called automation.
You will find the shortcuts icon on your home screen or on your ‘today view’. This allows you to quickly access your shortcuts.
