Abderrahmane Ammars quantitative Studie in marokkanischen Vereinen und Moscheen in Frankfurt zeigt, dass die individuelle und die kollektive Identität im islamischen Kontext nicht nur vom Glauben, von Geboten und Verboten beeinflusst wird, sondern - ganz im Sinn der »situativen Identität« nach John Waterbury - zu einem großen Teil auch von der lokalen Kultur sowie den Bräuchen und Traditionen aus der vor-islamischen Zeit.
