About This Book
"Together we have something and share a passion that other people will never understand" Mark and Angela are a father and daughter grappling with a painful past and fragile future. Tonight, an innocent evening of ice cream and DVDs derails quickly into dangerous territory in this chilling new story about a father who loved too deeply. "This is a play about love. A love misplaced. A complicated, tainted, socially unacceptable love, but a deep, rich and painful love all the same. The play demands a holding back of judgement and the engagement with the possibilities of such a thing." - Caroline Steinbeis, Director

SCENE ONE: DENIAL
We see MARK. He is in a moment of deep crisis. Unbeknownst to him, ANGELA watches on.
This goes on for a while.
He attempts to shake it off.
He has an immense box of dominoes in front of him. He sets a handful up and knocks them over.
He looks over the table in front of him, then pours out the amount he thinks heāll need for the table.
He pushes two tables together and then pours out more dominoes.
He pours out all the dominoes and starts moving furniture and objects around that he will use for his giant domino path.
ANGELA has watched all of this, before...
ANGELA: Hi.
MARK: What?
ANGELA:
MARK: Oh. Hi.
ANGELA:
MARK: How long have you
ANGELA: What are you doing?
MARK: Sorry?
ANGELA:
MARK: Oh. You know. Just this.
ANGELA: You thought youād dig these out?
MARK: Yeah. You know...
ANGELA: Right.
MARK:
ANGELA: Thatās good.
MARK: Do you think?
ANGELA: Yeah.
MARK: Right.
ANGELA:
MARK: Thanks.
ANGELA:
MARK: What? What is it?
ANGELA: I feel it is my responsibility as your daughter to call you a loser.
MARK: Loser?
ANGELA: Thatās right.
MARK: Why?
ANGELA: This. All this...
MARK: Whatās wrong with all this?
ANGELA: Dominoes?
MARK: So?
ANGELA: Nerd. Youāre a loser nerd.
MARK: Oh. I see. Right.
ANGELA: Exactly.
MARK: Loser nerd. Right. Nice.
ANGELA:
MARK: Iām not though.
ANGELA: Really?
MARK: No.
ANGELA: What then?
MARK: Determined. Iām just determined.
ANGELA: Obsessed.
MARK: Yeah.
ANGELA: You got it.
MARK: Possibly.
ANGELA: Absolutely.
MARK: Loser nerd, hey?
ANGELA: Thatās right.
MARK:
ANGELA: Itās nice.
MARK: Is it?
ANGELA: Yeah.
MARK: Right.
ANGELA: Nerdy. But nice.
MARK: Right.
ANGELA: Good.
MARK:
ANGELA: Itās good.
MARK: Right.
ANGELA: Thatās all Iām saying.
MARK: Right.
ANGELA:
MARK: Thank you.
Silence.
He keeps setting up the room.
ANGELA: I canāt believe you still have these.
MARK: What?
ANGELA: You heard.
MARK: Why?
ANGELA: Years. I havenāt seen these in
MARK: Iām not going to throw them away, am I?
ANGELA: Well...
MARK: What?
ANGELA: I...
