About This Book

Conventional psychology has made very little progress in treating mental disorders. Sigmund Freud showed us the vast depth of the subconscious; however, he and his successors had little success in actually curing disorders. Currently, the mainstay of psychiatric therapy is through medications, which broadly and relatively indiscriminately numbs the brain, with many unintended side effects. The main motivation for this book was the incredible effectiveness of the techniques we’ve develop

Part One
Theory of Subconscious
1
The Theory of Subconscious State Manipulation
There are two parts to the theory:
Part 1: The Discrete Nature of Subconscious State Change (Boiling Water Analogy)
Our subconscious states, such as our personality, mood, behavior, and urges, are qualitative in nature, in that they are the manifestation of many tiny quantitative subconscious changes. In other words, changes of our subconscious state (i.e., qualitative change) are actually the result of the accumulation of many small subconscious changes (i.e., quantitative changes), and the changes of our subconscious state occurs in a discrete fashion. In other words, the qualitative change occurs only when enough quantitative changes have accumulated, just like the way water behaves when we attempt to boil it. It behaves in an “all or nothing” way and the change occurs instantaneously when a critical threshold is reached. When boiling water, heat is constantly being added; however, it is only when the accumulated heat causes the temperature to become one hundred degrees Celsius that the water boils. Prior to one hundred degrees, even though we know changes are in fact occurring at the molecular level (i.e., quantitative changes), there are no apparent changes to the water that can be noticed with our eyes (i.e., qualitative changes). Therefore, there appears to be a delayed reaction to adding heat. We all have patience and faith that water will eventually boil because we were taught this by our parents when we were young and have witnessed it occur consistently countless times with our own eyes. However, because most people are not cognizant of the similarity of our mental processes to that of boiling water, this same delayed reaction causes people to feel that influencing subconscious state change is very difficult or even outright impossible. The same patience and faith need be applied to subconscious state change. This aspect of our theory needs to be emphasized the most in its importance as most people fail because they will have a long period of time with no results due to the discrete nature of subconscious state change, and hence give up before reaching the critical threshold of accumulated quantitative subconscious changes needed to generate the qualitative change.
Part 2: Positive Energy
To influence change in our subconscious state (i.e., qualitative change) our goal must be to influence the subconscious processes (i.e. quantitative change) so that enough will accumulate to cause a state change. For each undesired subconscious state (e.g., worry, anxiety, various phobias, depression, etc.), we can always find some action(s) that will push the underlying subconscious processes in a way such that it changes in a direction toward the desired subconscious state. We dub this type of action the general term “positive energy.” Once this positive energy is found, it just needs to be repeated frequently for enough quantitative subconscious changes to accumulate. When the accumulation reaches a critical point, the subconscious state instantaneously changes from the undesired state to the desired state, just like that of boiling water when it reaches one hundred degrees Celsius.
2
Our Brain Function
To further understand the concept of positive energy, we look to the current understanding of how our brain functions. When we want to adopt a desired subconscious state A (e.g., confidence, go-getter attitude, fearlessness, etc.), instead of an undesired subconscious state B (e.g., lack of confidence, laziness, phobias, etc.), it just means that we want to have the neurons responsible for state A fire more often, and to have the neurons responsible for state B fire less often. The only way to have the neurons of state A fire more often is to trigger it more frequently so that the connection becomes stronger. The only ways for the neurons responsible for state B to fire less frequently is (1) for these neurons to be triggered less frequently and hence the connections will weaken naturally over time from lack of use, or (2) for the connections of state B to be redirected into the connections of state A, meaning that certain neurons that were once used to generate the state B are now instead redirected and used to generate the state A. The positive energy we have been referring to can thus also be stated as anything that makes the neurons of state A fire more often and makes the neurons of state B fire less often. Once the strength of the connection of the neurons of state A is overwhelmingly stronger than the neurons of state B, you will automatically and instantly start to trigger state A and no longer trigger state B, and thus the subconscious state change is complete.
3
Three Key Examples of Positive Energy
The following are the three key examples of positive energy (A, B, and C) and their respective ways to help perform them:
A. Doing the desired action(s) that embodies the desired subconscious state, whether it be a behavior, a thought, an emotion, etc. Whenever we do the desired action(s), they will become more likely to occur automatically. Once we do this enough times, the new action(s) will become completely automated. At that point, the undesired subconscious state will have changed to the desired subconscious state.
B. Not doing the undesired action(s) embodying the undesired subconscious state by redirecting or doing the exact opposite of the undesired action when the urge arises. The less you do the undesired action(s), the less likely the urge to do it will arise in the future. Eventually after enough times, you will no longer get these urges to do the undesired action(s). At that point, your undesired subconscious state will have changed to the desired subconscious state.
The following are some examples of ways to help you perform A and B above:
I. Increase motivation to do A and B:
• Logic/rationality:
Learning the laws of nature so you know what will work and what will not work. For instance, learning the underlying mechanism of how the mind behaves so you know what MUST be done to influence it to the desired direction. This well help you better focus your energy toward methods that will actually help you versus other things that are not effective. This will give you more motivation to do the exercises since you now know that nothing else will work.
• Increase pain of having the undesired subconscious state or increase pleasure of having the desired subconscious state
Our most basic and primal driver is to avoid pain and to gain pleasure. If you increase the pain of your current situation, it will increase your motivation to improve your situation. If you increase the pleasure of your desired situation, it will increase your motivation to strive to change your current situation into the desired situation
• Positive feedback of doing A and B
Positive feedback is very effective in increasing your faith and motivation to do the exercises needed to trigger a subconscious state change. Although as discussed previously that there will be periods with no apparent results and hence no positive feedback, eventually you will see positive feedback and this will make you believe in the effectiveness of our methods. This will increase your faith that the methods do work and will hence motivate you to keep doing the exercises more consistently and frequently.
II. Increase faith that doing A and B will work:
• Logic/rationality: for instance, learning the “boiling water” property of subconscious state manipulation—i.e., that there will be a period with no apparent results even though lots of positive changes are in fact occurring at the subconscious level
Hence you now expect to have no results initially and hence this period of no results will not deter you in your confidence that a subconscious state change will eventually occur. Hence realizing the underlying natural laws of the mind will give you faith, where someone who did not know this property of the mind would otherwise quit during this period of no results.
• Read testimonials of success stories
Testimonials provide faith because it means that other people who have used the same methods as you have succeeded. The more testimonials you read, as well as knowing the high success rate (the high percent of patients who were cured using these methods), the more confidence you will have that the same methods will work for you.
• Role models
This is the same reasoning as with testimonials. In addition, role models are people who you trust. You know they would not lie to you. Hence when they say the method works, you can take their word for it, hence adding to your faith in the method’s effectiveness.
• Positive feedback of doing A and B
This is the same reasoning as in the previous section, i.e. positive feedback is very effective in increasing your faith and motivation to do the exercises needed to trigger a subconscious state change. Although as discussed previously that there will be periods of time with no apparent results and hence no positive feedback, eventually you will see positive feedback and this will make you believe in the effectiveness of our ...
