Characters: JEANNIE, SIBLING, MUM, DOCTOR, STUDENT, DANCERS AKA ‘THE GIRLS’, DANCE TEACHER, ANNOUNCER.
Things to know:
This work can be staged with three or more performers.
CHORUS includes all performers except when otherwise specified. Eg. CHORUS [x1] is one voice, CHORUS [x2] is two voices etc.
(Dialogue in brackets is an internal monologue being spoken aloud.)
Scene One has two versions, depending on the performer’s ability to execute a flawless, manic tap solo. Scene Two can have one JEANNIE or as many JEANNIEs as days of the week. Perhaps the ANNOUNCER in Scene Nine is a voiceover.
Things to learn:
There’s more to love about you than your front splits and straight-A report card. You get to define what success looks like to you. You define your worth.
