Ask yourself what impact God has had in your life and what impact you have had on the lives of those around you. Who, in all honesty, would you trade places with? In my life, I have witnessed two of my brothers rendered quadriplegic, the death of my brother, Stephen, and lived in the memory of my brother, David, who passed before I was born. Two sisters diagnosed with breast cancer, the passing of my father and a brother-in-law. A divorce that tore my family apart like a tornado. My losses have left me wondering about life's lessons. What is it, Lord, that I am supposed to understand? Loss brings sadness and sometimes despair but it must be reconciled. Reconciliation so one's light can shine with wisdom, understanding and, most importantly, compassion. You must have Spiritual Freedom to truly understand that you are not in control. At times, I have felt like a witness, observing the struggles of my loved ones. I was a compassionate observer offering love and support. Through God's grace, both grandiose and inspiring, I've written these words about my struggles, silent and personal. Life is extraordinary and full of promise, perhaps it has been God's way of preparing me for a more authentic and compassionate way to live my life. Hope and perseverance are my greatest allies.

I don’t really mean that

But know no other than the last two

Years spent from under the cover

Away from the pain, away from the emotion

Which keeps you stuck from true forward motion

The anger which seems to consume my person

Has taken its toll, and my life has worsened

Bitterness has taken away the very person I am

Inside this shell

A true worthy gem

When will you come out,

Oh so ready to shout

This is the person,

I am really about!

Goodbye to you who held me down and

Kept my face in a perpetual frown

The world goes ’round, yes, it does

Even the lampshades turn with the sun

Goodbye to you who fooled me so

I guess I didn’t really want to know

Alone I am, but my life’s only steward

Oh well, for now, I must move forward

A new life I must attain

This pain, this pain, it serves me not

My new life is for me to sew

So I can learn to grow

And meet the person

I so desperately need to know!

Acceptance certainly escapes my thoughts

It seems I just prefer to live distraught

My life is not at all as imagined

When the thoughts of growing up

Were fathomed

It feels like such a betrayal

That my life should be lead this way

How is it I just can’t learn

Or perhaps I just refuse to earn

The promises of our Savior

In which our lives are truly favored

I seem to be a stubborn Joe

And always wanted things just so
