About This Book

Este libro es el segundo volumen de un texto sobre introducción a la física para alumnos que estudien seriamente ciencias físicas, ciencias de la vida e ingeniería. Aquellos que sigan este curso deberán haber estudiado previamente geometría, álgebra y trigonometría; el cálculo diferencial e integral, el álgebra y la trigonometría son también requisitos previos para el segundo volumen. El primer volumen cubre la mecánica y la termodinámica; el segundo estudia la electricidad y el magnetismo, la luz y la óptica. Tenemos en preparación un tercer volumen sobre física moderna y mecánica cuántica. La organización del contenido es esencialmente clásica con excepciones.

Una característica excepcional para un libro de esta naturaleza es la inclusión de abundante material histórico, no como mera deferencia al pasado o patriotismo científico, sino más bien para que el alumno actual de física conozca el crecimiento orgánico de nuestro conocimiento.
