About This Book

FROM THE PIERCING OF THE NUT AS ITS SEEDLING FIRST REACHES OUT TO FEEL, TO THE ACHING BOUGHS OF THE MATURE MALLORN. WE SEE LIFE IN ALL ITS FORMS. AND LIFE SEES US.
Affected by the breeze and passing strangers in our youth, turning our face to the sun in our teens. We find our poise as we reach adulthood and lay down the roots that establish our being. It is here that we gather our wealths. Knowledge assimilated from passers-by, health from the sustenance of soil and rain, wealth from our offspring as we delight in their well-being. Honour from existing.
It is in ageing that we grow, not the other way round; by ageing together that we grow together; by learning the beauties that we each possess that we transition from tolerance through gratitude to love.
The kind of love that is deep rooted, that blossoms into beautiful golden foliage each spring. The kind of love that not only defines each moment, it defines our lives ā€“ as we turn over leaf, after leaf, after leaf and find each other.

These Accidents of Faith and Nature

Round we go in circles
Does it have to be this hard

Minaret

Aboard a flight to Istanbul
Close in all but skin
I want to open my heart to you
And invite your goodness in
To feel your flavour in my veins
Your warmth beneath my flesh
For our worlds of experiences
To form one holistic mesh
For more and more I want you close
To dream that common dream
To exist under the same skies
To flow in the same stream
A future full of loveliness
Of wicked and wholesome nights
Of mornings and gentle awakenings
Unrepeatable, unforgettable sights
Caresses and wriggles that can only be felt
Aromas that develop in the mist
Racing pulses that climax together
Breathless thankyous as we kiss
Let this arousal last my love
Taste me slowly as you devour
These are our moments of togetherness hon
These are our finest hours.

The Formation of a Teardrop

It starts from somewhere deep within
And often rises slow
The substance of which it is formed
Within us all must grow
The feeling like an ache
But also like a sore
Tender in its caress
In its most basic form, raw
A welling up of emotion
Assuming the shape of a pearl
The thoughts that give rise to it
Somehow wanting to unfurl
As if by exorcising the hurt
Through the excretion of this gem
We can take our unexplainable furies
And simply let go of them.

Ä°stiklal Avenue

Alone, and walking, in search of self
Feeling the grind of life within
The smell of lemons fills the air
And I am taken in
Beyond the streets which surround me
Through the maze of ourselves
To where I see the heart of you
A precious, delicate, pearl
You are lying amidst the finery
Of bedclothes and family love
But there is an air of an ache around you
Which I cannot ease
I see a knowing in the face of the elderly
Too much pain in the faces of the young
Sweet love in held hands of the tourists
A waning moon, that looks tired of it all
The pul...
