INTRODUCTION
Sketches are foundation for creating important three-dimensional features. Sketches typically comprises two-dimensional sketch entities created either on a plane or an existing planar face of a part. Once a sketch is created, it can be used as a profile to create a 3D feature. These profiles can be used to create a unique geometry by pulling them along a path.
Most of the designs created in Autodesk Fusion 360 consist of sketched and placed features. A sketch is a combination of a number of two-dimensional (2D) entities such as lines, arcs, circles, and so on. The features such as extrude, revolve, and sweep that are created by using 2D sketches are known as sketch based features. The features such as fillet, chamfer, thread, and shell that are created without using a 2D sketches are known as placed features. In a design, the base feature or the first feature is always a sketch based feature. For example, the sketch shown in Figure 2-1 is used to create the solid model shown in Figure 2-2. Once you have drawn the basic sketch, refer to Figure 2-1, you can convert it into a solid model using solid modeling tools.
