About This Book

Big cities in countries in transition can be seen as a laboratory for the study of contemporary - old and new - functional and spatial processes. The study of this area are fascinating work, through which our knowledge about the processes in the city is expanding. Cities surprise us, since the phenomena and processes occurring there ahead of our ideas about them. At the same time, we are anxiously watching some phenomena that disturb this apparent "diversity in harmony". This book shows some of the "old-new" phenomena and processes in the cities of Mexico, in Lima, Bogota and surprising phenomenon of the expansion of poverty in Poland. The presented book is another "pebble" in the process of investigating and understanding our cities and improve their knowledge about them. The wide interdisciplinary audience representing: territorial planning, urban planning, architecture, geography, sociology, urban anthropology, environmentalists, global issues, could be interesting in this topic.
