Hitler und die Kunst", das nun in der dritten Auflage erscheint, ist ein Standardwerk zu Adolf Hitlers KunstverstĂ€ndnis und Selbstkonzept als KĂŒnstlergenie und KĂŒnstlerpolitiker. Die Autorin folgt diesem Selbstkonzept anhand von GemĂ€lden aus dem Besitz des Diktators, der seine Laufbahn als Maler begann, nach der Ablehnung durch die Wiener Kunstakademie ein SelbstverstĂ€ndnis als verkanntes KĂŒnstlergenie ausbildete und dieses nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg zur Grundlage seines gesellschaftlichen und politischen Aufstieges machte. Nach 1929 stattete der politische Aufsteiger seine MĂŒnchner Wohnung, nach 1933 der "FĂŒhrer" und Reichskanzler seine diversen Residenzen mit teils berĂŒhmten GemĂ€lden aus, darunter etwa die Toteninsel von Arnold Böcklin (Nationalgalerie Berlin). Das Buch zeigt, welche zentrale Rolle GemĂ€lde und das Sammeln von GemĂ€lden fĂŒr die Selbstinszenierung und Herrschaftspraxis Hitlers als KĂŒnstlerpolitiker und GenieprĂ€tendenten spielten.
