Chapter One: Risks and Rewards

Starting up a business always involves some type of risk, and there aren't any businesses that are risk-free, however there are ways to start a low-risk business. Choose the best location for your business that is low in costs and would be the best place for it to be located. However, keep in mind that leases, paying rent on a location, utilities, and other costs involved are a lot for a new business to handle. A business can easily be started and operated right in the comfort of your own home. Running a business in your home will save lots of overhead costs related to commercial business.
Working from home can also help you save time and money on commuting costs and increase productivity too. Continue to keep your full-time day job while working on building your new home-based business. Start your home-based business on a part-time level instead of jumping into it full-time as this will provide a cushion of a consistent paycheck and benefits received from your day job. You will need your day job to pay for the bills, and fund your new business too. The primary principle of hard work is to put in the time and effort into it. The harder that you work, the more money you will earn. Your overall earnings are directly related to your optimal performance so there is no waiting to hear if you have earned that much needed promotion or raise.
You will be able to keep the entire amount of money made and have the ability to save money on food by preparing breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner right from you home as it is cost-efficient way of saving money. Starting your own business increases your overall opportunity for professional growth with creating your own income-based opportunities by being your own boss. It gives you a chance to learn and wear many different hats such marketing/PR, director of sales, online sales promotion, business development manager, research and development, and more. These hats will provide insight on how to master all of these departments. This experience will make you and your business more marketable in the long run.
There are less risks involved running a home-based business compared to a commercial business as there are less startup expenses involved. Also it is easier and inexpensive to maintain than handling a separate location. Running a business in your home allows for you to take part in tax advantages such as deducting a section of your home’s depreciation and operating expenses as a part of your business expenses. This deduction can also include a percentage of your property taxes, mortgage, insurance, household maintenance expenses and utilities.
Another advantage running a home-based business is that allows you to have more time doing the things you love from spending precious time with family and friends to enjoying your hobbies. The free time is very special for those who are parents of school-aged children from seeing them off to school and being home when they return. Parents will be able to spend even more quality time with their children when they are off from school. The health benefits are vast but the primary benefit is less stress in trying to multi-task demands and juggling with so many duties between work and family. Now you will be able to set your own flexible schedule allowing for you stay home and care for a sick child when that opportunity wasn’t previously afforded.
Additional pros of running a business from home is that is can reduce stress levels creating a much healthier lifestyle compared to working outside of the home. People who are commuting back and forth to work have experienced poor health brought on by the daily travel. It has been linked to high stress levels, obesity, high blood pressure, insomnia, back problems, and more. Don’t forget to add in road rage and automobile accidents. Working from home will give you the flexibility to finally balance work and family life. A life that you’ve needed such as being able to attend your child’s activities such as Little League games, dance, choir, and piano recitals, and more.
Creating and running your own home-based business is a wonderful creative outlet to let all of your hobbies and passions come alive and create a way to generate money using those very creative talents. Running a home-based business will mean that you will not have to budget time and energy for commuting back and forth to the workplace when instead you will have more time and energy on building your business’ successful growth and development.
Running a home-based business is easy and quick to setup. Setting up a business can be as easy as creating and launching your own website for your business. All that is required to pull it off is having access or o...
